Recipe: Mexican Wontons

If you follow me on Instagram (embracing_me76) you know I posted about what I was making Mexican Wontons for my sisters Bridal Shower.  Someone on Instagram asked for the recipe so here is it.  Well that wasn't the only reason for the recipe post, I just wanted to make them again because they were so good!!! :-)

Now as I always say, I usually don't follow a recipe when I make something so there are not exact ingredient measurements, I simply go by taste. :-)

So here is what you will need:
Cupcake/muffin pan (regular size)
Frying Pan
Sauce Pan
Cookie sheet

Ingredients:
Ground Turkey (ground beef, chuck or chicken can be used if you prefer)
Knorr Fiesta Sides Taco Rice (plain white or brown rice can be used)

Taco Seasoning
Salsa
Olive Oil (you can use any oil if you wish, but I picked olive oil (healthier) because it's also used on the wontons)
Wonton Wraps (found mine at Publix over in the produce section by the bags of salad)
Mexican Cheese (not shown, optional)
Pre-Heat oven to Bake at 350

First things first, WASH YOUR HANDS ALWAYS BEFORE PREPARING FOOD!!

All of your ingredients (minus the cheese)

Put meat in frying pan to cook it, drain when done, put back in pan add a little water and then the taco seasoning.  When I made this the first time I seasoned it with seasonings I had not a pack.  I used Cumin, Nature's Own and Garlic Powder, I seasoned the meat as it cooked, but I did the quick way this time!!

For the rice follow the directions on the package!

Take your oil, you can put it in a bowl and with a brush or even paper towel lightly coat the insides of the muffin/cupcake pan.

Coating the pan.

Take the olive oil and brush, lightly coat your Wontons (yeah a little too much oil here, LOL).

After the pan and wontons are lightly coated with olive oil, place the wontons in the like so.  Place the wontons in the pre-heated 350 degree oven for 10min.  Depending on your oven you may not need to cook them for the 10 full minutes.  Just cook them until the edges start to brown and they hold their shape.

While your wontons are in the oven, your rice and meat should be done so in a bowl combine them.

Then add your salsa, you can add as much or little as you like, it's all about how you want it to taste.

The mixture of rice, ground meat and salsa.

The done wontons, PLEASE be careful when baking the wontons they can burn easily especially under the bottom.

Take the wontons out of the pan and put them on a cookie sheet or a plate to let them cool a little.

After the wontons have cool spoon in the meat mixture, again here you can add as much or little as you would like.

After you spoon in the mixture into the wontons you can add cheese, put the wontons back in the oven (on a oven safe pan) for about 5 or 6 min.

After they come out the oven, let them cool a little and then ENJOY!!!  These are great appetizers for any party or just some little treats to have at home!!

So try them out and let me know how you like then!!  Hope you have an awesome Memorial Day Holiday!!

TTYL!!!
