Recipe: Pan Seared Salmon Fillet Burger

I love eating healthy just like the next person, but I don't like boring bland food.  There are so many great ways to prepare delicious foods we love and still be and eat healthy.  I think that is one of the keys to losing weight and keeping it off is finding foods that you can eat that still taste great!!

Now I love seafood and so I love salmon fillets.  I love them baked, grilled however, but I had never had a salmon burger.  So when I bought some salmon fillets from Publix a week ago I decided I wanted to do something different with them so I decided to try the burger.

I went searching for some recipes and found a few that looked really good, but decided to come up with something on my own.  When I tell you this turned out SO GOOD, I am not kidding.  It's so quick, done in 30min and so filling.  I knew I had to share this recipe with especially for those that love seafood particularly salmon and looking for new ways to cook it.

These are the ingredients cooking utensils you will need:
Salmon Fillets
Mrs. Dash Lemon Herb Peppercorn Marinade
Grey Poupon Country Dijon
Olive Oil
Spinach
Slice Swiss Cheese (2%)
100% Whole Wheat Bun
Non-stick frying pans and a bowl with a top

Before you start: WASH YOUR HANDS!!

I took out my salmon the night before to thaw them some and that morning before going to work I cut off the extra skin (you can probably have them take the skin off at the store), marinaded them, covered them and put them in the refrigerator. I used about half the bottle of marinade.

After you get home from work the salmon should be thawed and ready, so gather up all your other ingredients.

The marinaded salmon, the marinade smelled really good!!!

On medium/high heat place a non-stick frying pan on the stove and add about cap full of olive oil.

Once the pan is hot enough add your marinaded salmon.

Cooking very nicely!  Now be careful to watch the salmon and turn them occasionally so they cook evenly on both sides.  Also, make sure you checked the inside of the salmon because thicker pieces take longer to cook inside.  You can probably cut the thicker fillets in half before cooking them. If they are still browning too fast on the outside and not cooking fast enough on the outside, turn the heat down and make a small cut in the salmon to help cook the inside faster.

Once they are done, not too dark on the outside and done on the inside, place them on a paper towel to drain the oil off.  Once the oil was drained off I placeed them on clean plate, something about them sitting on that paper with the excess oil bothered me, LOL!!!

Now you can take a frying pan a different one or clean the first one and lightly coat it with olive oil, not even a full cap.

On low/medium heat place your buns face down to toast.  Mine took about 1 to 2 min to brown the way I like it.

Once the face down side has browned flip the buns over and then spread on the Grey Poupon.

You will probably want to turn the heat/gas down so not burn the other side of your bun.

Now you can place your salmon on the bun as it browns on the other side.

Then add your swiss cheese, let it stay in the pan long enough to melt the cheese slightly but not burn the underside of your bun.  You can actually take the buns out and place the salmon in the pan by itself and then add the cheese.  Or you put the salmon with the cheese in the microwave to cook it for a couple of seconds.

Once the salmon and buns are ready, top one side with spinach.

Add the salmon, eat and enjoy!! YUMMY!!

I hope you try this and let me know how you like it.  If you love seafood and want an option to your fried fish sandwich try this, so much healthier and taste just as good!!!  That's it for now, until next time!!!!

 TTYL!!!
