Changes To The Way Your Followers Connect

In the world of blogging, bloggers are always making changes to their blogs to improve them and make them look better so they become more appealing.  Some changes that are made are sometimes changes we HAVE to make because some features/add-ons we use are going away, being replaced or outdated, case in point Google Friend Connect or GFC.  I know alot of people found out last year that in March Google is said to be doing away with GFC.  Which means if you only use GFC as a means for your followers to follow your blog, if they aren't already following you, new followers won't be able to connect to you.  Now you don't want that to happen but once GFC is gone it will!! :-(

Not Much To Really Say: Outfit Of The Day

Here's a quick post about an outfit I wore last week (Thursday I believe) to work.   I'm always talking about how I'm not able to take pictures of my outfits during the week because it's almost dark by the time I actually get to my house (after picking up my son) and then when I'm at my parents there really isn't anyone there to take pictures for me unless I catch one of my sisters there!!   I'm thinking about getting a tripod for my camera and just do them myself.  I've take them myself before by propping my camera up on something (when I could) so I think I did pretty good.

I like the idea of using Instagram or a similar app, but I don't have an iphone, don't plan to get one.  My next phone is going to be a droid, I just like those better from my research and droid offers apps like instagram just not as popular.  ANYWHO.....see there I go rambling LOL!!    I took these with my trusty old blackberry (which I'm about to get rid of) and I used Picasa do get the cool affects.  This is how I might have to take some of my pictures until I find a better solution to taking regular pictures.

This Is The Remix: Blogger Style Re-Creation

Hi everyone, I hope your weekend went well in spite of the messy weather some of us had to experience. Also, A BIG HELLO and WELCOME to my new followers, thank you for following!!!! :-)

I'm coming to you with the 1st Blogger Style Re-Creation of 2012.  As I always say I follow alot of great and very stylish bloggers and this blogger is no exception.    Corie of  It's My Taste has such great style and if I had to describe it I would call it conservative edginess (interesting choice of words I know)!!  Her style is also very comfortable, laid back and chic, you can put any of them on and I'm sure be comfortable and stylish at the same time!! Corie is also down to earth and so sweet, she was the first (and so far only) blogger to do a feature on me and my blogs, I'm still excited til this day!! :-D

Can You Stand The Rain: Outfit Of The Day

I titled this can you stand the rain because it has been raining alot here the past few days and today was the worst.  I was out and about in it and OMG, forget cats and dogs, it was raining elephants and hippos!!!!  If I hadn't had to run some errands and have this meeting for my sisters wedding I would've been at home letting the rain relax me. LOL!!   We were under a tornado warning or watch but nothing bad happened so it would've been prefect chill weather.

ANYWHO, enough about the rain, I just wanted to post some quick outfit pictures.  I wore this last Sunday to church, I'm trying to make sure I do more outfit post, my blog isn't a fashion blog per-say, but I still like to post them.

Music To My Ears: Throw Back

I was a big fan of Monica when she first came out, her voice sounded richer and she had more control to me back then.  She is still a great singer, but I definitely liked her voice when she first came out better.  This is one of my favorite songs by her, enjoy and HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

Healthy Living (Eating Right) - Falafel Recipe

Since 2012 started people have vowed or resolved to lose weight and eat healthier. However, many of them fail with this resolution because they either 1. Lack the drive and determination to keep up with it. 2. Get bored with the workout routines they're doing 3. Say they don't really have the time  4. Get frustrated with food choices they believe they have.  With eating I really had to expand my palate to try new dishes from other cultures that I found to be healthier than some American cuisine. 

I've always tried different cuisines, but never thought to incorporate them into my everyday healthy eating. So I went on a search to find the recipes for some of the dishes I tried from other cultures.  One of my favorites is Falafel, it's said to be a Middle Eastern as well as a vegetarian food since it has not meat.  The only bad thing about Falafel's is that they're usually fried, but there are recipes for baked falafel.

So here is a recipe so you can make your own falafels at home.  Now, since trying this recipe I have tweaked it a bit and changed some of the seasonings, but I'm going to share the original recipe here:

Something New for 2012 and an Outfit Of The Day

I haven't done an outfit post in a while so I decided to take some quick pics Sunday after church at my parents house.  The weather wasn't cold, but still gloomy and a little cool!  Now I still need a better camera and a tripod so I can take better pictures, one day when I feel like dishing out the money for the camera I want then I will!!  

Random thought: You know losing weight is a great thing, but I can't buy clothes like I really want so my clothes are getting too big, sigh!!  I need to have my mom alter them for me!!

Don't I just look sooooo happy right here!!  My sister took this but she didn't tell me to smile or anything before she snapped the photo.  Yeah I need a new photographer........ And no that is not a fro on my head LOL, I was wearing my hair curly (wet and go).  I try to not press my hair out too often, since I am natural I'm afraid to mess up my curl pattern. Even though parts of my hair in the front won't curl up anymore, but I have somethings to try at the advice of another wonderful blogger.

Music To My Ears: What I'm Feeling

If anyone knows me or has paid attention to my post about the things that I like they will know when it comes to music one of my favorite genres is Neo-Soul.  This mixture of Jazz/R&B sometimes Hip-Hop is on point and the music sounds so fresh and new.  The talent in this genre is endless, there are so many artist out there that don't get the recognition they should.

What I am feeling right now is Elle Varner, her song Only Wanna Give It To You is so funky and fun.   It has that old school hip hop beat which I love, her voice is great too.  And what made me love the song even more was when I saw the video.  Elle's style in this video is on point and I love her hair.  Yeah that has nothing to do with the song, but I still love it, LOL!!!

On a side note though, when I try to describe my style or what I like and would love to dress more like, style like hers is what I think of.  I like fun, funky, colorful, boho, free flowing looks.   Looking at some of my outfits you don't see that because 1. I don't have alot of that in my wardrobe anymore. 2. alot of my outfit pictures were work attire so I have to careful of what I wear.  Even though there are ways to be cute, funky, boho and still office appropriate, I just need to find more of those pieces to add to my wardrobe!! :-)

Looking Back At 2011

I said in my happy new years post that I wasn't going to do a recap on 2011 because I didn't have much to recap since I only started my blog in what September, but it seems I have changed my mind!! :-)

When I started this blog I started it mostly to help myself because even at 35 (before my b-day) I had issues with myself and I wasn't very confident in myself.  Doing this blog and being open and showing myself to the world has been like therapy for me.  I had to get over the fear I had of being comfortable in my own skin and loving me for me.  I also had to get back to dressing like I used to dress.  When I was smaller I was totally into clothes, shoes, accessories so much that at one point I thought about going to school to be a fashion designer.  I still have my sketch book and everything.  I even designed a wedding dress for a friend that she had made and actually wore on her wedding day (I need to find those pictures and post them).  When I gained the weight after having my son putting any real serious effort into dressing was gone.

Another wonderful thing, I got into thrifting which has been soooo much fun, remember these beauties!!

I need to do more though haven't been in a while!!

IT'S MY BIRTHDAAAAAY

It is my BIRTHDAY today, YAAAAAAY!!!  I am 36 years young today!!   I am sooooo Grateful and Thankful to God for Blessing me to see 36 wonderful years, He is and has been Truly Awesome!!  I am looking forward to many more birthdays because like fine wine, I get better with age!!!! :-)
